The final stage of the substance selection process is to choose the Regulation you would like to use.

The first option you will see allows you to Auto Populate Task Hazards &amp; Controls. This option is switched on by default, and will add all hazards and controls identified in the SDS directly into your assessment. If you do not want the system to add the hazard and control information into your assessment, just click the Auto Populate Task Hazards &amp; Controlsto switch it to No.

Below that, you will have 3 options when choosing the regulation of your substance:

GHS (Red option on left hand side) – Use this option to add the substance to your assessment using the new Globally Harmonised System (GHS) regulation format

CHIP (Orange option on right hand side) – Use this option to add the substance to your assessment using the old Chemicals, Hazard Information and Packaging for Supply (CHIP) regulation format

Add Substance Only – This option can be used to add the substance to your assessment without any GHS or CHIP regulatory information

1. GHS (Red option on left hand side) – Use this option to add the substance to your assessment using the new Globally Harmonised System (GHS) regulation format
2. CHIP (Orange option on right hand side) – Use this option to add the substance to your assessment using the old Chemicals, Hazard Information and Packaging for Supply (CHIP) regulation format
3. Add Substance Only – This option can be used to add the substance to your assessment without any GHS or CHIP regulatory information

To continue on to the assessment wizard, simply choose one of the 3 options highlighted above .

Please Note: The CHIP regulation is being replaced by the GHS regulation, and all manufacturers/suppliers have been mandated to update any SDS documents to meet the new Classification, Labelling and Packaging of chemicals to GHS. Where possible, it is advised that you choose a substance using GHS. ​ If, when choosing the substance’s regulation, there is only CHIP data showing (and the GHS data is empty), it might be best to add the CHIP data into to your assessment instead.
