Adding a finding that isn't tied to a clause you've answered

How to record something that came up outside the questionnaire.

Written by Caim Hermoso

Who this is for: The assigned auditor.

Audits find things that are not on the checklist. To record one:

  1. Go to the Findings step.

  2. Select Add Finding.

  3. Complete the finding modal as normal — but you must choose the Clause / Requirement yourself from the dropdown of the template’s clauses.

  4. Save.

The finding joins the list on the Findings step alongside those raised from clause rows.

Every finding inside a template-based audit needs a clause. If nothing on the checklist fits, pick the closest clause and explain the gap in the Auditor’s Notes — then feed it back so the template can be improved. That gap is itself useful information.

The one exception is findings added from an uploaded external report, which are not tied to a template at all. See 9.8.
