Who this is for: Audit Administrators.
In Settings → System Settings → Audit Settings → Corrective Actions:
Switch Require closure verification on or off for your organisation.
Under Finding Types, choose which types must be verified before they can close.
Select Save.
Finding type | Default |
Major Nonconformity | On |
Minor Nonconformity | On |
Opportunity for Improvement | Off |
Observation | Off |
When verification is on for a finding type, findings of that type do not close when their corrective actions are completed. They move to For Closure until someone with Verify & Close Findings — in that location or a location above it, and never the owner of one of its corrective actions — signs them off.
What happens when you change it. Turning verification on applies to findings whose corrective actions are completed from then on; a finding that is already closed stays closed. Turning a finding type, or verification as a whole, off releases findings of that type that are waiting at For Closure: they close straight away.
The defaults put the check where the risk is — on nonconformities — without holding up opportunities for improvement and observations, which usually carry no corrective action.
