Corrective action settings

How audit corrective actions behave, and the settings on the Corrective Actions tab.

Written by Caim Hermoso

Who this is for: Audit Administrators.

Go to Settings → System Settings → Audit Settings → Corrective Actions. This tab decides what happens to a finding once its corrective actions are done.

Setting

What it does

Require closure verification

When on, a finding whose corrective actions are all complete does not close by itself. It moves to For Closure and waits for someone with Verify & Close Findings to confirm the actions worked. When off, every finding closes as soon as its corrective actions are done.

The auditor may not close their own findings

Off by default. When on, the auditor who conducted the audit cannot verify and close its findings either. Leave it off if the auditor is often the only person able to close.

Finding Types

Choose which finding types need verifying: Major Nonconformity, Minor Nonconformity, Opportunity for Improvement and Observation. See 10.5.

One rule you cannot switch off: nobody can close a finding they own a corrective action on. If you own one of its actions, someone else has to verify and close it.

How audit corrective actions work. They are created in the shared Actions module with the action type Audit Corrective Action, linked to the audit and the finding. They follow the standard Actions statuses — Incomplete, Overdue and Completed — and a finding can only move on when every one of its actions is Completed.

Notifications about corrective actions — assigned, and closed — are switched on or off on the Notifications tab. See 10.1.
