Why is a location showing as not covered?

Common reasons a cell isn't green, and what to do.

Who this is for: Everyone who uses the Coverage view.

If a location looks uncovered when you expect it to be covered, work through the causes below.

Causes and fixes

  • An imported audit isn't counting — imported audits never count towards coverage. Audits added through Create New > Audits > Audit Finding (external or third-party reports) have no template, so they can't cover a cell.

  • Past audits stopped counting for a standard — coverage follows the template’s current standard tags. If a standard is removed from a template, its past audits no longer cover that standard.

  • The cell shows In progress — In progress isn’t Covered. The cell turns Covered only when the audit is completed (published). In progress only appears on a cell that has been audited before; a never-audited cell stays Never audited while an audit is scheduled or under way.

  • A later audit is complete but the cell still shows In progress — an older audit at the same location and standard was started and never completed, and it holds the cell at In progress. Check Audit Records for an old In Progress audit.

  • It was Due yesterday and is now Overdue — Due shows on the due date only. From the next day it's Overdue for re-audit.

  • The cell shows — or Not required here — no requirement has been set for that cell. See Setting audit requirements for a location [LINK].

  • A sublocation shows Never audited after an audit at its parent — Treat sublocations as separate entities is ticked on the parent's requirement, so the sublocation needs its own audit. See How sublocations are covered, and the "separate entity" switch [LINK].

  • The cell shows Awaiting template — no template in your collection or the global library covers that standard yet.

  • You can't see a location — coverage only shows locations you have access to.

Note: Only completed audits from a template tagged with the standard, at that location and within the requirement's frequency, make a cell Covered.
