Saving a draft, exiting safely, and publishing

The controls in the builder's top bar, and why they differ between a new template and a published one.

Who this is for: Needs Manage My Audit Templates.

The builder's top bar depends on what you are working on.

Building a new template — the screen is titled Audit Template Builder:

Control

What it does

Exit

Closes the builder. Changes are not saved unless you saved a draft or published first. You are warned if there are unsaved changes

Save Draft

Saves your progress without publishing. Requires a Template Name. The template stays unusable for audits until it is published

Publish Template

Validates, then publishes to My Audit Templates. If the global library toggle is on, also submits it to Sevron

Editing a template that is already published — the screen is titled Edit Audit Template, and the top bar carries Exit and Publish Template. Changes to a published template are made live by publishing them, which raises the version. See 2.10 for what that affects.

While you are building something new, save a draft early and often. The only validation Save Draft applies is that the template has a name, so there is no reason to wait until the template is finished.

If this doesn't work

  • Publish is rejected — check the template has a name. See 3.18 for the other validation messages.

  • You lost work — Exit without saving discards changes. There is no autosave.

  • You were expecting Save Draft and it is not there — you are in Edit Audit Template, editing a published template. Publish the change, or Exit to discard it.
