Changing the audit owner or reassigning the auditor

How to hand an audit to someone else.

Written by Caim Hermoso

Who this is for: The audit owner, or a user with Schedule Audits.

Only the assigned auditor can conduct an audit. If the wrong person is assigned, or the assigned auditor is unavailable, the audit must be reassigned — a colleague cannot simply take it over.

There are two row actions in Audit Records, and they do different jobs.

Change Audit Owner

Use this to move accountability for the audit without touching who does the work.

  1. Open Audit Records and find the audit.

  2. Open the ⋮ menu and choose Change Audit Owner.

  3. The modal shows the audit, its Current Owner and a New Owner dropdown. Pick the new owner.

  4. Confirm.

Reassign Audit

Use this to change who conducts the audit, or to change both owner and auditors at once.

  1. Open the audit's ⋮ menu and choose Reassign Audit.

  2. The modal offers Audit Owner and Auditors. Auditors is multi-select, so an audit can be reassigned to more than one person.

  3. Save. The description on the modal is the reason this matters: "Only its owner and auditors can work on it."

One thing to watch. After changing the owner through Change Audit Owner, open the audit's Audit Details step and reselect the Audit Owner before publishing. See 8.8.
